In Sevastopol, the exhibition “Vereshchagins. Light and shadows» was visited by children from the Donetsk People's Republic

56 children from the Donetsk People’s Republic were able to get acquainted with the work of the great Russian artists Vereshchagins. Within the framework of the project of the Sevastopol State University «University shifts», children aged from to 17 years visited the inter-museum exhibition project “Vereshchagins. Light and shade».
For the first time in one exhibition space, the organizers have united the work of three Vereshchagins: Vasily Vasilyevich, brothers Pyotr Petrovich and Vasily Petrovich. The exhibition combines two formats: original paintings from the collection of the State Russian Museum, the Nizhny Tagil Museum of Fine Arts, the Rostov Regional Museum of Fine Arts, the Sevastopol Art Museum. M. P. Kroshitsky and audiovisual media installations created on the basis of digitized exhibits from metropolitan and regional museums with the participation of IT Crimea technopark.
In a special curatorial tour, our research staff introduce the children to each of the artists, talk about how the famous canvases were created. Through painting, they are introduced to the customs and traditions of Russian culture of the 19th century. Children have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of high art through multimedia projections created by artificial intelligence based on the original works of artists , — said Vitaly Zotov, director of the Russian State Art Gallery.
The exhibition introduces visitors to the artists, their views on art, history through landscapes from travels in the south of the Russian Empire, historical and everyday sketches. The exposition presents a little-known side of V. V. Vereshchagin’s work — these are Sevastopol, Crimean landscapes.
