The prosecutor’s office of the Nakhimovsky district of Sevastopol approved the indictment in the criminal case against the 41-year-old native of Lipetsk, who had been hiding from the investigation authorities for more than a year.

He is accused under the village of «in» part 3 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (theft committed by a group of persons with illegal penetration into the room, largely). According to investigators, the man, together with his accomplice, came to Sevastopol to steal the property of a local religious organization. On the night of August 14 to 15, one of them with the help of a staircase through the window stained glass entered the premises of the St. Nicholas Church of the Monuches on the street. Bogdanova, 43, while the second was waiting in the car below and watched the situation. Thus, they stole jewelry from the temple: gold rings, chains, pendants, hull crosses and earrings. In addition, men defeated the protective glass on the icons of the “St. Nicholas the Wonderworker of the Mirliki” and “The Virgin of Jerusalem”. Thus, the attackers caused material damage in the amount of more than 820 thousand rubles to the Orthodox arrival of the temple.,-voiced the details of the case in the press service of the prosecutor’s office of Sevastopol.

Police officers promptly identified persons involved in the crime, and detained them in the area of ​​the Crimean bridge. The investigation in the criminal case was carried out by the Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Nakhimovsky district of the city of Sevastopol.

During the investigation, the stolen property was seized and returned to the temple.

One of the defendants was detained, and later sentenced to 2 years 1 month in prison in a maximum security penal colony.

The second participant in the crime disappeared during the investigation, was on the wanted list, but he failed to avoid responsibility for the deed. Now he was found, taken into custody and will appear before the trial.

The case against him was sent for consideration on the merits of the Nakhimovsky District Court of Sevastopol.
