In Sevastopol, the memory of prisoners of fascist camps is honored

CrimeaPRESS reports:

April 11 is the International Day of the Liberation of Nazi Concentration Camp Prisoners. In memory of those who did not return from the Nazi death machines, participants in the mourning meeting laid flowers at the Eternal Flame at the Sevastopol Defense Memorial of 1941-1942.

Today is a special day — the 79th anniversary of the liberation of concentration camp prisoners, a day of remembrance for all those who were imprisoned in concentration camps by the German fascists, those whose lives were interrupted forever, those who managed to be freed in 1945. This bitter memory is a very important lesson for all humanity. In Sevastopol, this day is always celebrated in a special way, because many Sevastopol residents ended up in concentration camps. This is a terrible page of history, but it is very important in order to teach us — the unlearned lessons of history are sure to reverberate in today. And I think that in Ukraine exactly that pro-fascist, pro-nationalist policy should be condemned — and I believe that there will definitely be an international tribunal for those who do not spare human lives, do not spare children— the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes Russian Senator Ekaterina Altabaeva.

In the Catherine Hall of the House of Officers of the Black Sea Fleet, activists of the public organization of former minor prisoners of fascist concentration camps were honored. They were given thanks and gifts.

Our organization has existed for 40 years, now there are 152 of us. Big things are seen from a distance — this is time, past events, we lived a happy life, because we believed and believe. May God grant memory and health to everyone — not only to us, but to everyone living in Sevastopol, in Russia and throughout the worldsays the chairman of the Sevastopol branch of the Union of Former Minor Prisoners of Nazi Concentration Camps, Iraida Gudkevich.

On this memorable day, 20 people were awarded various awards — gifts and letters of gratitude were presented by Deputy Director of the Department of Internal Policy Alexey Goncharov and Deputy of the Legislative Assembly Tatyana Shcherbakova. In total, the organization currently has about 150 members.
