In Sevastopol, the number of forest fires has decreased

Today, at a meeting of the Government of Sevastopol, chaired by Mikhail Razvozhaev, the fire situation in the city was discussed.
Now there is constant patrolling and joint work of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, everything is under control. Let’s hope it stays that way for the rest of the hot season.the mayor stressed.
The report was presented by Yulia Gavrilova, Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Ecology. She noted that this year the number of forest fires has decreased compared to the previous year.
It is too early to draw final conclusions, but to date, one forest fire has occurred on the territory of the Sevastopol forestry on an area of 0.04 hectares (400 sq. m.). For the same period in 2022, there were nine forest fires on an area of 2.085 hectares— said Yulia Gavrilova.
In addition, at the meeting it was noted that in order to eliminate forest fires in Sevastopol, a small forest patrol complex based on UAZ will be purchased.
This is a UAZ-based vehicle, which is additionally equipped with a 500-liter fire tank, a motor pump, and fire equipment. It will significantly increase our responsiveness in identifying and extinguishing forest fires.— commented the head of Sevprirodnadzor.
