In Sevastopol, the number of voters who are disabled has been established

CrimeaPRESS reports:

There are 21,047 voters with disabilities in the region, of which:

  • Group I – 2,673 people
  • Group II – 8,143 people
  • Group III – 10,231 people

Including: those using wheelchairs — 1,476, those using prostheses — 376, those who are visually impaired — 753, those using guide dogs — 4, those who are hearing impaired — 1,117 people.

The data was obtained in accordance with clause 16.1 of Art. 20 of the Federal Law of June 12, 2002 No. 67-FZ “On the basic guarantees of electoral rights and the right to participate in a referendum of citizens of the Russian Federation” from the Sevastopol Branch of the Pension and Social Insurance Fund of the Russian Federation.

Working with Sevastopol residents with disabilities is one of the most important priorities of the Sevastopol City Election Commission in ensuring the voting rights of citizens of the Russian Federation. Based on the information we receive, we carry out joint activities with government agencies, organizations of people with disabilities, and social protection structures. In addition, constant updating of data on the number of this category of voters is necessary to understand their needs and subsequently improve the technological equipment of polling stations and voting premises,” explained the secretary of the Sevastopol City Election Commission, Ekaterina Pyrkova, of the need to clarify information about voters who are disabled.

The totality of implemented activities provides an opportunity for voters with disabilities to fully realize their voting rights. Thus, during the past election campaign for the election of the President of Russia, special type markers were used in Sevastopol, sign language interpreters were involved in communications, and printing materials made in large print and using embossed dotted Braille were placed in access areas. Volunteers ensured that all polling stations were accessible to people with disabilities.
