In Sevastopol, the police opened two criminal cases for fraud in receiving social benefits

In Sevastopol, officers of the Department of Inquiry of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Gagarinsky District opened criminal cases against two local residents on the grounds of a crime under part 1 of article 159.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Fraud when receiving payments”) .
It was established that in 2021 two young people aged 20 and 2021 years, for the period of their education in secondary specialized educational institutions, social benefits were assigned for the loss of a breadwinner. In 2022 year, both students dropped out of educational institutions, but the fact that entailed the termination of payment was not reported to the regional branch of the Pension Fund of Russia.
For several months in one case and more than one year in another case, young people received social benefits without legal grounds. In this way, they fraudulently stole more than 176 thousand rubles, causing damage to the Pension Fund , — reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea.
The preliminary investigation of the criminal cases is currently ongoing. The suspect was given a preventive measure in the form of a written undertaking not to leave.
