In Sevastopol, the renovation of the Lenin Komsomol square resulted in damage to the city budget

The prosecutor’s office of the Leninsky district of Sevastopol approved an indictment in a criminal case against the former head of the administrative and construction control department of the state budgetary institution «Parks and Squares». He is charged under Part 1 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (exceeding official powers).

According to the investigation, from August to December 2019, on the basis of a state contract between the State Budgetary Institution “Parks and Squares” and a commercial organization, a major overhaul of the Lenin Komsomol square in Sevastopol was carried out. The accused, knowing for certain that the work had not been partially completed by the contractor, accepted it in full on behalf of the customer. Based on the documents he signed, full payment was made from budget funds. In fact, the area of ​​the tiled surface in the park installed by the contractor, the amount of building materials used for this and the area of ​​landscaping were less than provided for by the terms of the contract and paid for by the customer. The cost of paid but not actually completed work amounted to over 1.5 million rubles,” noted the press service of the Sevastopol prosecutor’s office.

A criminal case was initiated based on materials from the UEBiPK Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Sevastopol. The investigation was carried out by the investigative department for the Leninsky district of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.

The district prosecutor’s office sent the criminal case with an approved indictment to the Leninsky District Court of Sevastopol for consideration on the merits.

In addition, a criminal case has been initiated under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud on an especially large scale) regarding the theft of funds by officials of a commercial organization that acted as a contractor under this contract. The investigation into it continues.
