On March 27, 1811, by decree of Emperor Alexander I, military battalions of the internal guard were formed — the prototype of the modern Russian Guard. During their more than two centuries of history, the troops have written many bright pages in the heroic annals of the Fatherland.
The initiator of the creation and the first commander of the law enforcement forces was General of Infantry Evgraf Fedotovich Komarovsky. Under his leadership, soldiers and officers fought in the battles of the Patriotic War of 1812 and the foreign campaign of the Russian army.
On April 5, 2016, by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation, the Federal Service of the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation was formed on the basis of the internal troops.
The composition of the troops of the National Guard of the Russian Federation includes special mobile detachments, special rapid reaction detachments, units of private security and licensing and permit work.
Today, thanks to aviation regiments and squadrons, law enforcement troops are mobile and can effectively perform tasks throughout the country and beyond.
In Sevastopol, solemn events on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of the founding of the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation began with the laying of flowers on the square named after Pavel Stepanovich Nakhimov.
Deputy Head of the Main Directorate — Head of the Department for Coordinating the Activities of the National Guard Units in Sevastopol, Police Colonel Vladimir Sobolev, together with the staff of the department, unit commanders, laid flowers at the Eternal Flame at the Memorial of the city’s heroic defense of 1941-1945. There, the National Guard honored the fallen with a minute of silence.
After, the solemn meeting was held in the House of Officers of the Black Sea Fleet.
Opening the solemn meeting, Lieutenant-General Stepan Petrovich Gaidarzhisky, Head of the Main Directorate of the Russian Guard for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, congratulated the employees and military personnel present on the holiday date in his solemn speech and noted that it was the Russian Guard that became the assignee of the best combat traditions of the internal troops and units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, included in its composition.
The orchestra of the Sevastopol Motorized Regiment of the National Guard under the direction of the Honored Artist of the city, Major Valentin Taev, performed for the guests.
At the solemn meeting, the Rosguards were congratulated by the chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the city of Sevastopol Vladimir Nemtsev, the military prosecutor of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation Alexei Naida, the head of the military investigation department of the RF Investigative Committee for the Black Sea Fleet, Lieutenant General of Justice Sergey Arefiev, the head of the Emergency Department of Sevastopol, Major General Alexei Rokhlin, Acting Chief Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for Sevastopol, police colonel Alexander Mikhailov, as well as the clergy of the city.
For conscientious service, letters of thanks and valuable gifts were received by more than 100 employees and military personnel of various units of the National Guard of Sevastopol. The awards of the Motherland testify to the professionalism, valor and honor of the personnel of the Department for the Coordination of the Activities of the National Guard Units (Sevastopol). The military work and dedication of the National Guardsmen were also highly appreciated: among those awarded with state awards, there are 5 representatives of the National Guard from Sevastopol— noted in the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Guard for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol (Sevastopol).
