In Sevastopol, the Yuzhnye WWTP is actively being built
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Construction Director of Hydrotechnical Company LLC Evgeniy Olkhovsky said that preparatory work is currently underway at the production site.
At the production site, welding and assembly work is being carried out on the second section of the pipe, its length is 540 meters. After preparatory work, it will be taken out to sea — from Cossack Bay to Blue Bay — and the diving service will flood it on site. The third section is about 960 meters long; it will also be towed to the construction site of the deep-sea outletsays Evgeny Olkhovsky.
The head of the city emphasized that the Yuzhnye WWTP will be launched in stages: this means that the quality of wastewater treatment will begin to improve even before all work is completed.
The constructed parts of the WWTP are being put into operation and, accordingly, by the end of the year we will switch them to a new deep-water outlet — the release of treated water will already be at a standard distance from the shore, which will significantly improve the ecology of the bay. All other work is proceeding in accordance with the project, the purchase of equipment continuesnotes the governor.
For reference:
The updated project of the Yuzhnye WWTP provides for the construction of treatment facilities with a capacity of 130 thousand cubic meters per day (with the possibility of increasing to 160 thousand), a deep-water outlet in the Blue Bay area and a discharge collector from the WWTP site to the water’s edge. The project excludes the construction of the 2nd stage of sewage treatment facilities in Balaklava — wastewater from Balaklava will directly go through the new collector currently being designed for treatment at the Yuzhnye WWTP. Work at the site is structured in such a way that the Yuzhnye WWTP will be launched in stages. This means that the quality of wastewater treatment will begin to improve even before all work is completed.
