In Sevastopol, veterans of the Great Patriotic War were awarded the title of «Honorary Citizen of the Municipality»

In four municipalities of the city, 35 participants and disabled people of war were awarded the title “Honorary Citizen of the Municipality”. The event took place on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin aimed at supporting and recognizing the merits of the participants in the Great Patriotic War.

In a festive atmosphere, the first signs “Honorary Citizen of the Gagarinsky Municipal District” were awarded to three veterans, the remaining six awards were transferred to relatives of veterans. These are Ivan Ilyich, Gorelov Vasily Georgievich, Danshin Daniil Konstantinovich, Muzychenko Nadezhda Stepanovna, Vozniyuk Vasily Timofeevich, Vladimirova Valentina Grigoryevna, Solovyova Nadezhda Nikolaevna, Goshtovt Galina Lvovna, Emelyanov Anatoly Sergeyevich.

We must remember and honor those who gave their lives and health for our freedom. These awards are a symbol of our gratitude and respect for their feat. Such a title is awarded for the first time in the Gagarinsky district, and this is a very significant event for us. It is dedicated to our honored people, veterans, participants in the hostilities of the Great Patriotic War, who fought for our peaceful sky. Thanks to these people, we live today. They restored our city, developed our Gagarinsky district. And we are obliged to pay tribute and respect for what they did,-quoted the press service of the Government of Sevastopol, the acting head of the Gagarinsky municipality Yuri Ivanchenko.

Among the honored title is a participant in the Great Patriotic War, Danshin Daniil Konstantinovich. He fought on the Central and Eastern Fronts. After the victory, he worked on the central telegraph, and then served in the border troops of the Pacific and Western Border Districts.

In the near future, the signs of an “honorary citizen” will be awarded in three more municipalities of the city. The heads of the districts will congratulate veterans who are not easy to attend a solemn event at home.

In total, 36 participants in the Great Patriotic War live in Sevastopol today. Among them — Latokha Mikhail Stepanovich, to whom the honorary title was awarded in 2020.
