CrimeaPRESS reports:
In Simferopol, the court pronounced a verdict in a criminal case against a resident of the city of Sevastopol. He was found guilty under Part 3 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud).
It was established that the defendant was part of a group of people involved in stealing money from pensioners. The group members called elderly people who were given false information about their relatives committing road accidents, as well as the need to transfer money to compensate for the damage caused. The defendant met with elderly people who transferred their savings to him. The total amount of damage caused to 3 citizens amounted to more than 1.5 million rubles— said the prosecutor’s office of the Republic of Crimea.
The Kiev District Court of Simferopol, taking into account the position of the state prosecutor, sentenced the defendant to 2 years and 6 months in prison to be served in a general regime correctional colony. The claims of the victims for the recovery of damages caused by the crimes were satisfied.
