In Simferopol, as many as 10 people were charged in court for illegal gambling

CrimeaPRESS reports:

In Simferopol, a verdict was passed against 10 Crimeans accused of illegal gambling activities with profit in the amount of 70 million rubles.

Depending on their role and degree of participation, they were found guilty under Part 2 of Art. 210 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (creation and participation in a criminal community), Part 3 of Art. 171.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal organization and conduct of gambling using gaming equipment outside the gambling zone, as well as using information and telecommunication networks),” noted the Crimean prosecutor’s office.

The court established that one of the defendants created and led a criminal community and attracted 30 more people to participate in his illegal actions. Since mid-2021, the defendants, knowing that gambling was prohibited in the region, placed equipment in 6 premises in the cities of Simferopol, Kerch and Yalta, where they organized gambling.

The illegal activities of the accused were stopped by law enforcement officials, and gaming equipment was seized from illegal circulation. As a result of their criminal activities, income was received in the amount of more than 70 million rubles— reported the prosecutor’s office.

The court, taking into account the position of the state prosecutor, sentenced two defendants to 3 years of suspended imprisonment with probationary periods of 1 year 6 months, the rest of the defendants were fined.

Criminal cases against another 21 people are pending in court.
