In Simferopol, remote scammers robbed another gullible pensioner

The day before, the Simferopol police received a message from a 52-year-old local resident that unknown persons called his wife’s father’s home phone number and reported that his daughter allegedly got into an accident and was the culprit of the accident. To resolve this issue, funds are needed in the maximum possible amount.
The 76-year-old victim agreed without hesitation, and after some time gave his bank cards along with his PIN code to a woman who came to his place of residence. The courier managed to take possession of funds in the amount of 116 thousand rubles. Employees of the criminal investigation department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Simferopol, as a result of competent operational investigative measures, established the identity of the suspect. She turned out to be a 22-year-old resident of the Saki district, who was detained at her place of residence. At the police department, the girl admitted that she found a “part-time job” as a courier on the Internet through one of the instant messengers. She acted under the direction of an unknown person, who gave her instructions to carry out the necessary actions aimed at obtaining funds, with their further transfer to an unknown person on cards, for 5% of the total amount of the stolen,” noted the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Crimea.
An investigator from the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Simferopol opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Art. 30, part 4 art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Attempted fraud on an especially large scale).
The sanction of the article provides for a maximum penalty of imprisonment for a term of up to ten years. The attacker was given a preventive measure in the form of house arrest within the investigation period.
