In Simferopol, the courier of telephone scammers was punished. I wanted to earn money — I got a term in the colony

In Simferopol, a verdict was passed in a criminal case on the theft of half a million rubles by telephone scammers.

The prosecutor’s office of the Kievsky district of Simferopol supported the state prosecution in a criminal case against a 27-year-old resident of the city of Orel. Based on the evidence presented by the prosecutor’s office, he was found guilty of committing crimes under Part 2 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud, that is, theft of another’s property by deceit, committed with causing a significant citizen).

It was established that the convict served as a courier in a group of telephone scammers who called the residents of the city and reported that their relatives were the perpetrators of traffic accidents. The attackers convinced the victims that they should transfer money to compensate for the harm caused to the victims of the accidentthe prosecutor’s office said.

According to this «scheme» in the twentieth of March of this year, the courier stole money from three victims for a total amount of almost 0.5 million rubles.

For these crimes, the perpetrator was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 1 year and 6 months to be served in a colony-settlement. The convict also recovered the damage caused to the victims.
