The feat is immortalized in the play «They were actors.»
In the Crimean Academic Russian Drama Theater. M. Gorky held a traditional gathering of the team in memory of the members of the underground group «Sokol», which operated in the theater during the Great Patriotic War.
The heroes died on April 10, 1944, three days before the liberation of Simferopol from the Nazi invaders. Their feat is evidence that people of a completely peaceful profession in difficult times proved that they are able not only to play heroes on stage, but also to become heroes in life.
The memory of the underground workers is immortalized in the play «They were actors», on a memorial plaque on the facade of the theater. For many years in April, the theater staff holds a traditional gathering of the troupe, at which, during the roll call, along with the names of the actors currently serving in the theater, the names of underground heroes are heard— recalled in the Ministry of Culture of the Crimea.
The roll call of the creative staff, where the names of Nikolai Baryshev, Alexandra Peregonets, Dmitry Dobrosmyslov, Zoya Yakovleva, Pavel Chechetkin, Ilya Ozerov, Praskovya Efimova, Oleg Savvateev, appear forever, ended with a minute of silence.
The theater workers also laid flowers at the memorial plaque of the Sokol group and the mass grave of the heroes.
