CrimeaPRESS reports:
In Simferopol, a criminal investigation has been completed against nine members of a criminal group who organized the illegal activities of a «rehabilitation center on a paid basis.» They are accused of carrying out entrepreneurial activities without a license, involving the extraction of income on a large scale, and of illegally depriving citizens of their liberty (paragraph “a” of part 2 of article 171, part 3 of article 127 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
The Investigation Department for the Kievsky district of the city of Simferopol established that in June 2020, a 29-year-old resident of the Rostov region organized illegal activities to rehabilitate people suffering from drug and alcohol addiction.
The man attracted a psychologist friend and seven other workers who had previously undergone rehabilitation activities themselves. Roles were assigned between them to search for people in need of help, their delivery to a rehabilitation center and observation. In one of the settlements of the Simferopol region, and subsequently in one of the private houses in the territory of the Kyiv region of Simferopol, special rooms were equipped with bars and locking devices that restricted freedom of movement. Agreements were concluded with relatives or candidates for treatment, after which the persons were placed in houses where, in the absence of medical education of employees and a license for medical activity, they were treated with medications— told the details in the Sledkom.
The illegal activities of the group were identified and suppressed by operational officers of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea with the support of the SOBR of the Russian Guard.
The investigation identified 20 residents of the peninsula, from whom the criminal group received illegal income in the amount of almost 8 million rubles until September 2022 for providing rehabilitation measures.
A significant amount of investigative actions to collect and consolidate the evidence base has been carried out. The materials were sent to the prosecutor’s office for the purpose of studying, signing the indictment and sending the case to court.
