In OP No. 3 «Central» of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Simferopol, a statement was received from the warehouse manager of one of the local stores of household appliances and electronics. The man stated that an unidentified person, through free access, appropriated a mobile phone from the warehouse of the premises.
Upon receipt of the above information, police officers found three more similar facts of theft of digital products. As a result of a series of operational activities, the police found that in the period from October 2022 to May 2023, a 37-year-old suspect, who is the warehouse manager of this store, committed theft of property, namely: mobile phones and laptops. The total amount of damage amounted to more than 1 million rubles. The suspect has been arrested by police officers. The attacker explained that the thought of a strong need for money prompted him to commit the above crime. Through the official website of this store, to which he had access, he carried out fraud with the goods, after which he appropriated it for himself and sold it to local thrift stores. He disposed of all the proceeds at his own discretion, — noted in the press service of the Russian Interior Ministry in the Crimea.
The Department of Inquiry OP No. 3 «Central» of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Simferopol initiated criminal cases on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Art. 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (misappropriation or embezzlement, that is, theft of another’s property entrusted to the guilty), as well as the investigator initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Art. 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (appropriation or embezzlement, that is, theft of another’s property entrusted to the guilty on a large scale).
The sanctions of the articles provide for a maximum penalty of imprisonment for up to two and six years, respectively. A measure of restraint was chosen for the attacker — a written undertaking not to leave the place.
Simferopol Police informs: the scale of abuse by dishonest employees is several times higher than the damage from thefts committed by buyers, which can lead to ruin.
