In the Bakhchisarai Khan's Palace, access to the Fountain of Tears was opened. But only until November 1st

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Until November 1, visitors to a sightseeing tour of the Khan’s Palace in Bakhchisaray can once again see the Fountain of Tears, glorified by the great Pushkin. The attraction was not accessible for inspection due to the restoration of the premises of the former residence of the Crimean khans. Between stages of work, the facility will be open to tourists for only a month. This is reported by Tourist portal of Crimea.

On the territory of a unique monument of Crimean Tatar architecture — the Bakhchisarai Khan’s Palace, the largest reconstruction since the times of the USSR has been ongoing since the 16th-19th centuries. Work under the supervision of Roskapstroy affected more than 10 cultural heritage sites. At the moment, the restoration of the Northern and Southern Dyurbe, the tomb of Dilyara-Bikech, the Sary-Gyuzel or “yellow beauty” bathhouse, as well as the funerary rotunda with the burial of Khan Mengli Giray II and the Catherine Mile has been completed, reported the Bakhchisarai Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve.

Visitors to a sightseeing tour of the palace complex, which lasts 45 minutes, can temporarily view the Fountain of Tears, built in 1764. It is located in the Fountain Courtyard of the palace. In the 19th century, Alexander Pushkin visited here during his trip to Crimea. The poet stopped at the fountain, where in memory of himself he left two roses — scarlet and white. After that, he wrote the poem “Fountain of Love, Living Fountain!” and the famous poem “The Fountain of Bakhchisarai”, where he told the beautiful story of Khan Crimea-Girey’s love for his concubine. So the whole world learned about the fountain and the palace.

In addition, during a tour of the complex, guests can visit the Khan’s Office, the Divan Hall and Palace Square.

From November 1, access to the fountain will be closed again due to the restoration of premises in the palace buildings, the reserve warned.

Work continues in the Stables, Count and Library buildings, the kitchen, the Khan’s mosque, the Falcon Tower, and the harem. The restoration is planned to be completed by the end of 2024.
