The Central Bank of the Russian Federation, together with the Headquarters of the regional public volunteer movement «We are together — Sevastopol» are holding the exhibition «History of Victory». The exposition consists of enlarged high-quality photographic images of domestic commemorative coins dedicated to key events of the Great Patriotic War. Under each photo stand there is a description of the characteristics of the coin with a story about the history of the creation of the image and an analysis of the artistic intent of the authors.
The peculiarity of the current exhibition is that it is presented for the first time in an open area — before that, photographs were exhibited indoors at the Nakhimov Naval School, the House of Culture Korabel, and summer camps for children. Now, both Sevastopol residents and guests of Sevastopol can see the “History of Victory” exposition around the clock on one of the central streets of the city ring,” quotes the press service of Mikhail Bezhan, manager of the Sevastopol Branch of the Bank of Russia. — Thus, the Museum of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation seeks to make its funds available for study and disseminate knowledge about the history of monetary circulation.
The photo exhibition «History of Victory» is being held by the Central Bank of the Russian Federation in many cities of the country. It consists of enlarged high-quality photographic images of Soviet and Russian commemorative coins dedicated to the Great Patriotic War. The medalists recreated fragments of famous front-line photographs, memorials to war heroes and symbols of Victory, military equipment and weapons. The first coin of the series was minted for the anniversary of the Victory, and the collection is replenished annually.
Sevastopol on the presented canvases is twice reflected by master medalists: on a coin in honor of 50-anniversary of the liberation of the city from the enemy and on a coin in honor of the Crimean strategic offensive operation 1944 of the year. Significant and familiar places not only to Sevastopol residents are minted on both coins — on the first one we see the Monument to the Scuttled Ships and the Monument to the Defense of Sevastopol in 1941-800 years, on the second — a fragment of the diorama Sturm of the Sapun Mountains on May 7 1944 of the year.
Other photographic canvases depict the tank battle on the Kursk Bulge, the liberation of besieged Leningrad, the Battle of Stalingrad and other significant events of the Great Patriotic War.
On the public platform of the Headquarters «We are together-Sevastopol» at the address. Lenin, the exhibition «History of Victory» will be exhibited for a month.
