In the Crimean village of Batalnoe, Soviet soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War were reburied
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In the village of Batalnoye, Leninsky district, a reburial ceremony was held today for Soviet soldiers who died during the fighting in January — May 1942 at the Ak-Monai positions. The remains of 105 Red Army soldiers were found by search engines as part of the military-patriotic program “Find a Soldier” and the Memory Watch in the Republic of Crimea “Crimefront-2023”.
Eighty years have passed, but the earth has not been able to hide the traces of the most brutal, bloody battles; the remains of soldiers and commanders continue to be found on the territory of the Leninsky district. Every year, since 2016, burials of the remains of commanders and soldiers of the Crimean Front who died during the fighting are held at the Mass Grave of Fallen Soldiers. Thanks to the work of search engines in our area, the silent letters on the Obelisk began to speak with the names of the found soldiers who were considered unknown, the list of names is updated every year, the names of new heroes become known— said the administration of the Leninsky district.
Today 105 soldiers of the Red Army found their earthly peace. The soldiers honestly and completely fulfilled their military duty; they will forever remain in the memory of their descendants.
Head of the military-patriotic search association “Crimea-Search” Nikolay Shevchenko reportedthat the remains were discovered in 2023 in four settlements of the region, in places where there were previously positions of the Crimean Front. Search engines had difficulty identifying the remains of the found soldiers.
The documents, in most cases, had decayed, there were only a few so-called death tokens, so it was possible to establish the names of only seven fallen. They found a lot of insignia, there were commanders, political instructors, sergeants, and ordinary soldiers,” Shevchenko said.
