In the institutions of the Federal Penitentiary Service in Crimea, a sports contest was held among convicts

In order to attract convicts to regular physical culture and sports, as well as to promote a healthy lifestyle, sports and athletics were held in IK-1 and SIZO-1 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. The sports event was organized by the council of the Public Monitoring Commissions of the Republic of Crimea, the NGO «Choose Life» and ANO «For Life».
The competition, which took place first in a correctional colony, and then in a pre-trial detention center, was attended by the chairman and members of the PMC of the Republic of Crimea Andrey Kozar, Tatyana Umerova and Diana Potapova, director of the ANO «For Life» Igor Kartashev, members of the National Powerlifting Association of Sevastopol , masters of sports of international class in bench press Artyom and Denis Stasyuk, who headed the judging of sports, as well as employees of the penitentiary department. The sports competition among men included such exercises as bench press weighing 35 kg, lifting the barbell for biceps weighing 25 kg and a team sport — tug of war. For women serving sentences in the form of deprivation of liberty in the SIZO-1 housekeeping unit, competitions were held in lifting the body from a supine position, jumping rope for a while and push-ups from the floor— noted in the press service UFSIN.
A total of 9 teams took part in the event. All the convicts with great zeal and perseverance strove to win the victory.
Following the results of the Games, the winners and prize-winners in the team event in all disciplines were awarded with diplomas and gifts. Athletes who demonstrated the best results in the individual championship were awarded diplomas and prizes.
In conclusion, the organizers of the competition wished the participants new achievements, actively go in for sports and adhere to a healthy lifestyle. In turn, the convicts thanked the guests for their sports activities, excellent mood and gifts.
The event was timed to coincide with the monthly campaign dedicated to the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
