In the Kherson region, more than 23 thousand residential buildings were in the flood zone. Many are beyond repair

CrimeaPRESS reports:

In the Kherson region, the military and rescuers, doctors, sanitary doctors and social workers, volunteers and public utilities continue to eliminate the consequences of the emergency caused by the destruction of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station.

The result of well-coordinated work carried out by employees of the Russian Emergencies Ministry and public utilities in pumping water from residential buildings and public buildings, clearing house territories and streets is noticeable to the naked eye. More than half of the flooded buildings have already been freed from water— said the acting governor of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo.

According to him, the delivery of food products, as well as the supply of bottled drinking water, has been arranged to areas with disturbed water supply as a result of the flood. Over 40 tons of water were delivered to the region as humanitarian aid during the day alone.

Continuous work is underway to provide material assistance to the affected population. In the Novokakhovsk city, Aleshkovsky and Golopristansky municipal districts, there are evaluation commissions that register lost and damaged housing and property.

Many residential buildings that were flooded as a result of the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, unfortunately, are not suitable for housing. Water in some buildings stood for up to 10 days, and some were flooded up to the roof. Such houses, even if they did not collapse on their own, will have to be dismantledSaldo noted.

Over the past day, documents for receiving cash payments were accepted from 233 citizens. Material assistance in the amount of 10 thousand rubles has already been received by 2.2 thousand people. In the future, an assessment of the extent of destruction will be carried out and compensation will be paid for the damage suffered, which can be used to build new houses, restore household plots and enterprises of the agricultural sector.

As the consequences of the emergency are being eliminated, life in the affected areas is gradually returning to normal. Of the 8.2 thousand evacuees, 310 people returned to their homes after the waters receded.

Today, the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia Alexander Kurenkov reported to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on the situation in the Kherson region and the measures taken to eliminate the consequences of the emergency.

Now the number of the grouping of the Unified State System for the Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations is more than 1.5 thousand people and 350 pieces of equipment. Among them, more than 90 specialists perform work on special processing of socially significant objects and residential buildings. More than 2,000 people, including 209 children, have been saved by joint efforts— said Alexander Kurenkov.

According to him, 1.9 thousand people are still in 21 temporary accommodation centers. They are provided with comprehensive assistance, food and basic necessities are provided. The rest of the citizens went to relatives and friends.

In the Aleshkinsky district, the water has also almost disappeared — now it remains only in the lowlands. And in the settlements of the Golopristan district, there is still a lot of water — this is the city itself, as well as Kokhani, Kardashinki Bolshaya and Malaya, and the area of dachas. All the forces of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and public utilities are thrown into pumping out sewer stations and water supply facilities, as well as substations. To provide people with light and water faster. On June 20, it was possible to connect to the power supply 3 five-story Alyoshek buildings and 5 apartment buildings in Gopry (Naked Pier)— said Alekseenko.
