In the Kherson region, the death toll from the destruction of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station increased to 35 people
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The number of deaths in the Kherson region, where several dozen settlements were flooded as a result of the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, increased to 35. This was announced on Sunday in Telegram-channel Andrey Alekseenko, chairman of the regional government, said.
The situation on the evening of June 18 is generally the same. The Nazis are hitting us, we are working. Throughout the day, house-to-house visits were carried out in the settlements of the emergency zone, a complex of works was underway to eliminate the consequences of the flood in all 3 affected areas.
Unfortunately, the death toll has risen to 35. Doctors continued to work on their professional holiday — 380 people have already been vaccinated. The payment of compensations of 10,000 is going on in all TACs, Novaya Kakhovka and Aleshki, and today it has also begun in the Golopristan district.
The veterinary service and utility teams have already collected and disposed of about a thousand dead animals. The places of their death are immediately disinfected, as well as the vaccination of all domestic and farm animals in order to prevent outbreaks of infections.Alekseenko noted.
According to him, the military and rescuers are disinfecting cemeteries, streets and facilities. Power engineers connected almost all transformer substations. Residential buildings and social facilities are connected as they dry. For example, yesterday power engineers managed to restore power supply to 28 streets in Aleshki and 6 in Gola Pristan. In both cities, work is underway to pump water from apartment buildings and water supply facilities. After that, we will be able to start replacing the equipment and reanimate the water supply.
The active phase of the flood in the Kherson region has passed. In the Novokahovsky city and Aleshkovsky municipal districts, the water has completely disappeared, in the city of Golaya Pristan, the flooding is five centimeters. 36% of the 23 thousand flooded houses were freed from water. Over the past day, the water level in the Kakhovka reservoir has dropped sharply — by more than four meters. By June 19, the full drawdown of the reservoir is expected— informed Acting Governor of the Kherson region Volodymyr Saldo.
Over the entire period of the emergency, almost 8,000 people were taken out of the flooded territories of the Kherson region, including 581 children and 280 people with limited mobility. Two thousand evacuees are placed in temporary accommodation centers. 107 people were hospitalized in medical institutions who received harm to their health as a result of the emergency. During the day, 420 people were vaccinated against infectious diseases (1.8 thousand in total). The vaccination of animals is also actively carried out.
