In the Krasnogvardeisky district of Crimea, the driver who caused the accident was sentenced to restriction of freedom.

The court found that in March last year, the convict was driving a VAZ 21150 car along the highway “Border with the Kherson Region — Simferopol — Alushta — Yalta” from the city of Dzhankoy to the city of Simferopol. Ignoring the overtaking ban, the convict drove into the lane intended for oncoming traffic, where a Chevrolet car was moving.

The driver of the Chevrolet applied emergency braking, as a result of which the vehicle skidded into oncoming traffic, where it collided with a KAMAZ truck. As a result of a traffic accident, the driver of a Chevrolet car was seriously injured,” the prosecutor’s office provided details.

The court, taking into account the opinion of the state prosecutor, sentenced the perpetrator to 1 year and 6 months of restriction of freedom with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of 1 year. The verdict did not enter into legal force.
