In the banking system of the Republic of Crimea, following the results of 2022, the number of detected counterfeit banknotes of the Bank of Russia decreased by more than 26%. There were 289 counterfeit banknotes with a face value of 5,000 rubles for 2022, which is 117 banknotes less than in 2021. Also, 39 thousandth banknotes were withdrawn from circulation — 11 less than a year earlier, 42 two-thousandth and one hundred-ruble banknotesaid the expert.
According to Natalia Nosova, it is better to check banknotes for authenticity immediately at the place of settlement — this will reduce the risk of finding a counterfeit banknote in your wallet. You can independently check the money for authenticity by several signs: through the light, by touch, or by changing the angle of view. But if the banknote has raised doubts about its authenticity, you can conduct an additional examination free of charge at any commercial bank.
