In the Saki region, police detained a suspect in a series of thefts

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia «Saki» received a report of the theft of household and electrical appliances from a house located in the village. Popovka, Saki district. According to the applicant, the amount of damage caused amounted to more than a million rubles.

Promptly taken search measures allowed the police to identify and detain the suspect. He turned out to be a 31-year-old local resident, who, according to an agreement with the applicant, was supposed to look after the house and property of a man permanently residing in Yalta. Criminal investigation officers have collected enough evidence confirming the involvement of a previously convicted person in a series of thefts. The man admitted his guilt, saying that throughout the summer he secretly stole other people’s property from an empty home. The suspect also said that he sold the stolen goods to pawn shops and thrift stores, and spent the money by placing bets in a mobile application. In just one of the thrift stores in Yevpatoria, investigators seized 25 pawn tickets for stolen items,” noted the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Crimea.

The investigator of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia «Saksky» initiated criminal cases on the grounds of crimes provided for in Part 2, Part 3 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Theft causing significant damage to a citizen”, an investigation is underway. A preventive measure in the form of a recognizance not to leave the place was chosen against the suspect.
