In the Sevastopol House of Officers of the Black Sea Fleet, «Peter's creations» are presented
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The photo exhibition «Peter’s Creations» has started its work in Sevastopol today. It is dedicated to the 350th anniversary of the birth of Peter the Great and is dedicated to the most significant events of the era of the first Russian emperor: the creation of a fleet, the founding of new cities, monetary and educational reforms.
The exposition features 24 photographic canvases depicting commemorative coins that have been issued by the Bank of Russia for more than thirty years. Each of them is a tribute to the ruler who changed the course of national history. As you know, Peter I stood at the origins of the Russian Navy (to which a separate commemorative coin is dedicated), and therefore the photo exhibition opened on a significant date for the hero city — the Day of the 240th anniversary of the founding of Sevastopol, the city-fortress, the country’s sea fort and the cradle of the Black Sea fleet. The location of the exposition is also noteworthy — the Catherine Hall of the House of Officers of the Black Sea Fleet: after all, Catherine II, like Peter the Great, is considered one of the greatest Russian reformers.— noted in the press service of the Sevastopol Branch of the Southern GU of the Bank of Russia.
Among the commemorative coins reflected in the photographs, Sevastopol residents can see a copy of the “300th Anniversary of Military Education in Russia. Navigation School. This school became the prototype for similar educational institutions in other cities of the Russian Empire, including the legendary Nakhimov Naval School, whose branch is located in Sevastopol.
