Krympress reports:
The exposition presents rare, valuable and historically significant exhibits from the large collection of the museum, some of the rarity items are shown for the first time.
At the opening of the exhibition, the director of the Museum-Reserve Svetlana Emets noted that the exhibition project introduces a wide range of visitors to interesting and valuable archaeological finds, the chronological horizons of which stretched from antiquity through the Middle Ages by the 19th century. The unique 45 stock items presented in the exposition are only part of the rich historical heritage of the past centuries of Ancient Sudak.
The curatorial tour of the exhibition was conducted by a specialist in the exposition and exhibition activities of the museum Tatyana Konova and spoke about the exhibited archaeological artifacts, their historical value and uniqueness.
The exhibition introduces only a small part of exclusive objects from the rich collection of the Republican Museum. Each of these artifacts has its own history, carries a piece of a temporary segment of a particular era, serves as a genuine illustration of the life of representatives of different peoples in the territory of ancient Sudak.
The exhibition «Museum rarities of the Sudak fortress» will continue its work until September 14, 2025.
REFERENCE. Rapist ancient and medieval objects were discovered on the territory of Sudak and its environs during the research work from 1965 to 2018 during archaeological expeditions of the Crimean branch of the Institute of Archeology Nanu under the leadership of I. A. Baranov, the State Hermitage under the leadership of the head of the Crimean southeastern expedition V. D. Gukin, the National Reserve of Sofia Sofia Sophia National Reserve. Kyiv ”and the FGBUN“ Institute of Archeology of the Crimea of the Russian Academy of Sciences ”under the leadership of V.V. Mayko, the GBU of the Republic of Crimea“ Museum-Reserve “Sudak Fortress” under the leadership of V. A. Zakharov, Sudak detachment of Slavyano-Sarmatian archaeological expedition of the State Hermitage under the leadership of O.V. Sharov and M. B. Schukin, received from the member M.A. Spendiarova.
The undoubted historical value of this collection is represented by exclusive specimens of the dishes: a pan (second half of the 1st century BC — the beginning of the 1st century AD), a red -legged dish (IV — V centuries), a pink -haired laginos (the second half of the 1st century BC — the beginning of the 1st century), watering plates, cities, bowls (x — x — x — x — x — x — x — x — x — x — x — x — x — x XV centuries), a fragment of a listen jug (after the 15th century), medieval oral -type jug and a bowl with an ornament in the form of a socket.
The originality and aesthetic features in this museum collection are distinguished by everyday life: the openwork detail in the form of a paradise bird (IX — XI centuries), medieval tops of the staff, playing chips, a cast bronze tambourine and a Karaite lamp, a fragment of a book salary rod (XIV — XV centuries), a hygiene set (X — XII),, the XII centuries). Foundry (XIII — XIV centuries).
For the first time at the exhibition, coin scales are exhibited (the second half of the XIII century — the middle of the XIV century), traditionally embedded from the horns of the animal. Their body on the outside is decorated with 21 concentric circles that form a large rhombus in the center in the center, and a triangle from below. The time of the appearance of such weights on the peninsula, including in Khersones, is just in the second half of the 13th century, which is probably associated with the mass intake of Juchid coins and the beginning of its own minting.
Another exclusive exhibit is the bronze end of the cornea of the Scythian asymmetric onions (III — IV centuries) in the form of a stylized paw of a bird of prey, which served as a place of attachment of the bowstring. This symbol can be considered as a certain totem sign of the progenitor of one of the Tavro -Skifo -Sarmatian or relatives of the North Caucasus Alansky of the Alansh of the Sugds, resettled to the Crimea at the beginning of the III century. Among the late -ant Crimean antiquities of the III — IV centuries, the Sudak find not only has no analogues in the southeastern Crimea, but is also the first such find of both the Crimean Scythia and in the territory of the Black Sea region.
In the exposure series of museum rarities there are also original jewelry: cross (XIII — XIV centuries), Cross Enolpion (XIV century — the first half of the 15th century), fragments of rings with an oval shield (XIV — XV centuries), a medieval brooch with a heart.
