The turnover of Internet sales in Crimea is growing annually. According to Bank of Russia, regions become drivers of the development of online trade as this market is saturated in the capital. Due to the popularity of marketplaces in the region, logistics infrastructure expands and new business opportunities are opening. An active rewind of sales on the Internet as one of the main trends in the consumer market in the country is said in the next issue of the report «Regional Economics».
According to the Association of Internet trade companies (Akit), the online sales turnover in the Republic of Crimea over the October-December 2024 increased by 94% compared to the same period of 2023 and amounted to 9.8 billion rubles. Such dynamics was facilitated by the lively work of a large distribution center in Simferopol and an increase in the number of orders for issuing orders.
Regional stores also note the growing level of competition with marketplaces. Crimeans began to order products, clothes and shoes online more often. Also, against the backdrop of the active growth of housing construction, Internet sales of furniture and households, household appliances and electronics have noticeably increased. The average check of Internet purchases of residents of the republic in the IV quarter of last year amounted to almost 4 thousand rubles, while for the same period of 2023-3,651 rubles.
The rapid growth of the Internet sales market began during the pandemic period. According to analysts, over the past 5 years, the share of online trade in the total circuit of retail sales in Crimea has increased by more than 5 times— notes the head of the Bank of Russia branch in the Republic of Crimea Igor Tsvetkov. — The active use of alternative sales channels has opened new opportunities for regional manufacturers and small businesses, allowing them to enter a wider market and compete with large players.
So, the Crimean maker of cosmetics has long noted the advantages of a multi -channel sales format. Its products are sold not only through the retail proprietary network, but also through the online store, distributors, a franchise network, as well as on the sites of well-known marketplaces.
Thanks to such a marketing concept, the company 2.5 times increased production volumes in 2024, having issued more than 2.2 million units of products under a plan of 1-1.5 million. In the near future, the company plans to expand the geography of presence, in particular, to establish cooperation with the countries of Asia.
