In Yevpatoria, police returned three million rubles to a pensioner, stolen by the scammers’ “courier”

As a result of the successful implementation of the operational development, employees of the criminal investigation department of the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia in the city of Yevpatoria, hot on their heels, detained a 39-year-old woman who played the role of a “courier” in the fraudulent scheme “Your relative got into an accident.”

About an hour before the arrest, the suspect received foreign currency equivalent to almost 3 million rubles from a gullible pensioner for allegedly not holding a relative of an elderly citizen accountable for a fictitious accident. Police officers found and seized the stolen funds from the criminal. Officers identified the victim and contacted her. At that moment, she did not yet know that she had become a victim of a crime. After carrying out the necessary investigative actions, law enforcement officers returned the seized currency to its rightful owner.— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.

A criminal case has been initiated against the assistant of telephone scammers under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The defendant was chosen as a preventive measure in the form of detention.
