Incident in Sevastopol: tried to steal someone else’s car… for an introductory tour of the city
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In Sevastopol, police patrol officers detained a suspect who tried to steal a local resident’s car.
It was established that an 18-year-old resident of the Murmansk region came to Sevastopol to earn money and, in his free time from work, decided to get acquainted with the sights of the hero city. However, the guy did not want to use public transport, and his personal car VAZ-2107 remained in his hometown. He came up with a solution to this problem spontaneously: while passing by one of the city markets, he noticed a car of the same model in the parking lot. Since he knew well how to start the engine without a key, the Murmansk resident decided to steal it. To do this, he broke the side window on the driver’s side, opened the door from the inside with his hand and got into the cabin, after which he tried to start the engine by shorting the wires— said the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.
These manipulations were noticed by the police department. Next is a matter of technology. As a result, the young man admitted that in this way he tried to steal someone else’s car… for an educational tour.
The investigation department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Leninsky district opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Art. 30, part 1 art. 166 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Attempted unlawful taking of a car without the purpose of theft”). The sanction of the article provides for up to 5 years of imprisonment.
