According to the territorial department of Rospotrebnadzor for the city of Sevastopol, a case of a lethal outcome of meningococcal infection in a child was indeed recorded in the city. Upon registration of the case, epidemiological surveys were carried out by epidemiologists, the causes and factors of transmission of the infection, as well as the circle of contact persons, were clarified with the parents. Organized and conducted examinations of persons in contact with the patient. No carriers of meningococcal infection were identified among the examined contact persons.
According to experts, it is impossible to get infected with meningococcal infection by water. The transmission of the causative agent of meningococcus from a sick person to a healthy person occurs by airborne droplets (contact) through direct close communication. Currently, there are no children and adults in intensive care with a similar diagnosis.
