Interest in rural mortgages has grown in Russia

In the third quarter, the volume of transactions with new buildings decreased by 30%, the Izvestia newspaper writes, citing data from the financial marketplace Vyberu.ru. At the same time, interest in mortgages has not faded. During the period from July to October, the mortgage calculator was used 3% less often than from April to July this year.
Most often, people were interested in rural mortgages; this program accounted for 43% of requests. In second place in popularity is family mortgages, which accounted for 21% of user requests in the third quarter. In third place is a mortgage for secondary housing, which was interested in 17% of potential borrowers. Only 6% of users were interested in market mortgages for new buildings, 5% were interested in IT mortgages.
In the third quarter of 2023, the most popular was the mass preferential mortgage, which accounted for 27% of requests, second place was occupied by family mortgages with an indicator of 21%, third place was taken by secondary mortgages, which were interested in 18% of users. Mortgage loan calculations at market rates accounted for 16% of users.
According to the head of the communications policy department at Vyberu.ru, Anna Romanenko, the abolition of mass preferential mortgages has turned the mortgage market upside down. This program was the main driver of demand for housing. Now, despite all the changes, people still need housing. People monitor the real estate market, evaluate possible mortgage options and are ready to react when a home loan becomes available.
Earlier, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Agrarian Issues Yulia Ogloblina assured that there are no plans to close rural mortgages, but they can be adjusted. Head of the federal program “Family Capital” Evgeny Tkachev told Cian.Journalthat interest in rural mortgages remains high, but issuances under the program are regularly suspended due to the rapid exhaustion of limits.
