In the Kherson region, options are being considered for filling the North Crimean Canal, taking into account the shallowing of the Kakhovka Reservoir, Acting Head of the Region Volodymyr Saldo said on the air of the TV channel «Russia 24».

Until we restore the Kakhovka dam, now there is a research option, we are studying the possibilities of filling the North Crimean Canal and the Kakhovka Main Canal, taking into account the lack of a reservoir that accumulated water specifically for this. There are options, and these options will be activated… The action plan is already in placeSaldo said.

He noted that after the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station and the shallowing of the Kakhovka reservoir, the reclamation capabilities of the region will decrease. At the same time, according to him, there is still water in the North Crimean Canal, but it is saved for irrigation.

But he did not tell the most important acting governor — how exactly specialists can fill the North Crimean Canal. Will they change the course of the Dnieper?
