How is two categories training at the same time?
Driving school — This is a place where future drivers undergo theoretical and practical training before obtaining a driver’s license. Many people wonder if it is possible to simultaneously study for category A (motorcycles) and category B (cars) to save time and money. The answer is yes, this is possible, but with some nuances that are important to consider in advance.
Conditions for simultaneous training
To get the rights of categories A and B, it is necessary to meet the age requirements. Category B (cars) is available from 18 years, and category A (motorcycles without restrictions) — also from 18 years old. However, if the student wants to get category A1 (motorcycles up to 125 cubic meters), you can start training from 16 years old, but in this case it will not work to give exams to both categories.
It is also important to choose a driving school that offers combined training. Not all educational institutions have instructors and equipment for the training of both motorcyclists and motorists.
Advantages of simultaneous training
The main plus is time saving. Instead of learning one by one, you can master the management of both a car and a motorcycle in one course, and then pass exams for both categories.
Another advantage is cost optimization. Although the cost of a combined course is higher than training for only one category, discounts are often provided in driving schools while recording on A and B.
In addition, the theoretical part for both categories is largely coincided. Rules of the road, signs, markings, principles of safe driving — all this is the same for drivers of cars and motorcycles. Therefore, students do not have to study the theory twice.
How is the learning process built?
Theoretical part
Pupils undergo a single course of theory, which includes:
- Traffic Laws.
- The basics of safety on the road.
- Analysis of road situations and signs.
- First aid for an accident.
This stage lasts from 1 to 2 months, depending on the schedule.
Practical part
Driving in a car and motorcycle passes separately. Usually, the student first engages with the instructor on the motorcycle, then — at the wheel of a car. To obtain category B, it is necessary to work out not only exercises at the autrod, but also riding the city.
Practical training takes from 1.5 to 3 months, but if the student quickly masters skills, this period can be reduced.
How is the traffic police exam going on?
Theoretical exam
The theoretical part of the exam is the same for both categories, so you do not need to take it twice.
Practical exam
For category A, the exam is carried out at the circuit where several exercises need to be performed:
- Acceleration and braking.
- Maneuration (snake, eight).
- Emergency braking and obstructing obstacles.
For category B, the exam includes three stages:
- Figure driving at the autrod.
- Movement along the city route.
- Assessment of knowledge of traffic rules in real conditions.
The delivery of both categories can be assigned to different dates, since driving is separate.
Possible difficulties
Despite the possibility of simultaneous training, there are several nuances. The student will have to devote more time to practice, as he masters two types of transport. It can be more difficult than training in only one category.
The financial burden should also be taken into account. Although combined courses are cheaper than training alternately, the cost is still higher than in one category.
Another important point is the workload of exams in the traffic police. Sometimes a schedule for the surrender of practice may vary, and both categories on the same day will not work.
Result
It is possible to obtain category A and B rights at the same time if age allows and the driving school offers such a service. Training will take on average from 2 to 4 months, and the traffic police will have to be taken separately for a motorcycle and a car. Despite the difficulties, the simultaneous receipt of two categories is a good opportunity to save time and money, as well as immediately master the management of different modes of transport.
