It has been decided: the minimum wage will increase in 2024, and wages will also rise
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The State Duma adopted in the third, final reading law on increasing the minimum wage. In accordance with it, next year the minimum wage will be 19,242 rubles. According to current standards, the minimum wage in 2023 is 16,242 rubles.
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an increase in the minimum wage by 18.5% from January 1, 2024. An important decision that will protect people and increase real incomes. As a result of the implementation of this order, wages will increase for 4.8 million people— commented the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.
Let us remind you that the amount of benefits for temporary disability, maternity leave, sick leave and other mandatory social insurance payments depends on the minimum wage.
As Ekaterina Stenyakina (United Russia), a member of the relevant State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, clarified, the new standards will ensure an increase in the salaries of public sector employees.
At the same time, indexation of the minimum wage and revision of the calculation coefficient upward to 48% of the median salary will increase the amount of social benefits for unemployment, sick leave, as well as maternity benefits— noted Stenyakina in an interview TASS.
She also drew attention to the fact that increasing the minimum wage above the subsistence level is being implemented for the first time in the Russian Federation.
In 2018, the minimum wage was equal to the subsistence level. However, practice has proven that wage growth is a driver of the economy and the reorientation of employers to increase labor efficiency and productivity growth,” Stenyakina emphasized.
