July 1 – Yarilin Day. You can see another part of the world and even… the other world
CrimeaPRESS reports:
July 1 is an amazing day on which you need to collect fragrant herbs and make tea from them. Such a drink, people believed, would bring exceptional benefits and help get rid of a variety of ailments.
The main character of today is the god Yarilo. Our ancestors said that midsummer is the time when all the saints begin to measure their strength with the pagan deity and cannot defeat him. It was believed that on July 1, the most incredible and miraculous phenomena could be observed: according to signs, holes could form on the ground through which one could see another part of the world, the sun would slow down, doors to the other world would open. In order to see all this, according to popular beliefs, you need to braid strong birch branches into a braid on July 1 and look through them from the steep bank above the river. For example, you can see loved ones who have gone missing.
And on July 1st they went out to mow, stuffed mattresses with grass, and in the evenings they gathered around fires, danced in circles and had fun, organized games, fairs, fist fights, and dances.
As for signs:
- New moon on this day means drought.
- Fog in the morning — the day will be hot and sunny.
- If you wash your eyes with dew on July 1, they will be alert.
- Pink sunset in the evening? It will be hot the next day.

- What you dream about on this day will definitely come true, but not immediately, but after 20 years.
- I dreamed of a sedge bush — to quarrels between relatives. Doing renovations in a house in a dream means the death of the head of the family. Swamp — to prison. Being buried alive means a long life. Church — fortunately. Drinking milk means being healthy. Fire — trouble can happen to children. On this day, my legs itched — for a long journey.
