July 1 is an amazing day to collect fragrant herbs and make tea from them. Such a drink, the people believed, would bring exceptional benefits and help get rid of a variety of ailments.

The main character of today is the god Yarilo. Our ancestors said that the middle of summer is the time when all the saints begin to measure their strength with a pagan deity and cannot defeat him. It was believed that on July 1, the most incredible and wonderful phenomena could be observed: according to signs, holes could form on the earth through which one could see another part of the world, the sun slowed down, doors to the other world opened. In order to see all this, according to folk beliefs, on July 1, you need to braid strong birch branches into a braid and look through them from a steep bank above the river.
