July 15 — Pet Fire Safety Day
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Today, 15 July, some countries around the world celebrate an unusual holiday — National Pet Fire Safety Day. Its purpose is to once again remind us that we are responsible for those we have tamed. Indeed, unfortunately, there are cases when pets cause a fire, therefore, in order to prevent possible accidents, do not forget to follow basic safety rules:
- remove electrical wires, as many pets love to play with them;
- do not leave the iron and lit candles unattended, as the pet can turn them over or throw them off;
- do not leave your pets unattended near fireplaces, wood-burning stoves, gas and electric stoves.
In addition, it is important to remember that not only people, but also their pets suffer from a fire in the home. Therefore, if trouble comes, try to evacuate from a burning and smoky home, taking your pets with you. If a cat or dog is frightened and is escaping, cover them with a blanket, wrap them tightly and head to the exit as soon as possible. Be sure to remember the place where your furry friend likes to hide when he feels danger — during an emergency with a high probability you will find him there , — the press service of the EMERCOM of Russia in Sevastopol notes.
It should be noted that during the elimination of fires, employees of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, first of all, rush to help people. But as soon as all citizens are safe, they begin to rescue pets. Every year, dozens of small lives saved on the account of Sevastopol firefighters.
Only last week, when extinguishing a fire in the village of Sugar Loaf, a girl and her two animals, a dog and a guinea pig, were rescued from a smoky apartment. Sevastopol firefighters also carried parrots, cats, hamsters, turtles and even dolphins out of the fire when a fire broke out in the Sevastopol Dolphinarium. Dolphins, of course, are not pets, but they are also our smaller brothers and disinterestedly give the joy of communication to each of us.
