July 19 – Sysoy the Great Day. Walking in the dew and making blackcurrant jam

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The most important thing to do on July 19 is to get up early and walk barefoot in the dew! Our ancestors believed that it acquires the strongest healing properties on this day. It can give a person strength, give vigor and give good health. They said that this dew is useful even for birds and animals. And the morning fogs fill everything around with life-giving power.

Experienced healers also knew this property of Sysoevskaya dew. Early in the morning they would go out to the meadow, collect the precious moisture and store it all year. They would treat eye diseases with it, rub joints, make lotions for the face. And if you mix it with medicinal herbs, you will get a powerful potion!

And on July 19, they cooked blackcurrant jam. They also tried to complete all field work, because it was the rainy season.

The Church today honors the memory of the Venerable Sysoy the Great. He is known for his hermit lifestyle. He spent 60 years away from people, achieving spiritual purity, for which he received the gift of miracles from God. And his power was so great that Sysoy was once even able to resurrect a dead youth. Tradition says that the monk was very strict with himself, but showed only kindness and compassion to those close to him. Just before his death, when Sysoy was lying on his bed, and his disciples were near him, the face of the monk suddenly lit up, and he said that he saw angels, holy prophets and the Lord. After that, he gave up the ghost.

Also on July 19, the memory of the martyr Hermias and other martyrs is honored — five disciples who suffered for their faith in Jesus Christ. Hermias himself was born in Athens and was engaged in preaching Christianity. Subsequently, during the persecution organized against believers by Emperor Numerian, he was arrested and killed.
