The church now honors the memory of Kirik and Julitta (Ulita). Tradition says that they suffered for faith during the persecution organized against Christians by Emperor Diocletian in the III-IV centuries. According to the description of the life of Ulita, they were a young widow of noble origin. Kirik is her son, who was also an adherent of Christian teachings. During the persecution of Ulita, along with Kirik, she fled from the city. She began to live as a wanderer. But once she was recognized on the street and brought to court. There, Ulita confirmed that she became a follower of Christ. A son was taken from her, suffering. Kirik, observing the suffering of his mother, said that he was also a follower of Christ, after which he was also tortured, and at the end they were beheaded. One of the slaves of the Julis found the bodies of the martyrs and betrayed them to the earth.
