July 8 — Day of family, love and fidelity. In Chersonese — a holiday of family values

On July 8, the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity, the Museum-Reserve invites residents and guests of Sevastopol to take part in a large-scale festive event. From to 19: 00 in Chersonesos as part of the program «On the family, love and fidelity!» specially prepared theatrical excursions, bright performances of artists, a family quest and much more will be organized.

On this day, at the entrance group of the museum-reserve, visitors will be met by Peter and Fevronia. Actors in the images of the holy noble princes of Murom will lead the guests to the arch of daisies (a symbol of the holiday), so that they can capture a joyful moment.

Holiday events:

  • From : 00 before 18: 00 a theatrical tour «Love, family and Chersonese» awaits visitors. During the passage of this route, guests will get acquainted with the family of the last Russian Emperor Nicholas II, with the princely couple Peter and Fevronia of Murom, with Count Alexei Sergeevich Uvarov and his wife Praskovya Sergeevna, as well as with Anna Andreevna Akhmatova and Nikolai Stepanovich Gumilyov. They will accompany the tour group on the journey and talk about their emotions from visiting Tauric Chersonesus. Excursion cost ‒ 700 rubles, concession ticket ‒ 350.
  • July 8 in Chersonese from : 00 to 00: 00 the family quest «With love through of the year». The venue is the northern part of the settlement. Participants will walk along a specially designed route, solve a crossword puzzle in which the secret word is encrypted, and, of course, take memorable photos against the backdrop of the sights of the museum-reserve. At the end of the quest, the team will receive small but nice gifts. Quest cost ‒ 450 rubles, reduced ticket ‒ 11.
  • From to 18: 00 an alley of family craft traditions will operate in Tauric Chersonese. Masters from the Chamber of Crafts of Sevastopol will introduce guests to pottery, making a folk doll, Diveevo clay toys, patchwork, woodworking, leather art, Petrikovskaya painting, textile toys, creating mosaics from Crimean stone. Also on July 8, in the museum-reserve, you can visit an interactive exhibition of folk toys from different regions of Russia and see a model of a Slavic house with an interior. A pleasant surprise for guests will be a photo zone with characters resembling bast crafts and life-size puppets.

In addition to the demonstration of handicrafts, free master classes will be held on the territory of the museum-reserve on this day. Anyone can try their hand at pottery, Petrykivka painting, clay or textile toys or elegant leather bracelets.

On the alley near the Byzantine courtyard of Tauric Chersonesos there will be a stand exhibition «Patron Saints of the Family». The temporary exhibition will tell visitors about famous married couples in the history of Russia. They are still the embodiment of love, fidelity and true family values ​​for posterity.

The celebration will end with the concert “Chosen by Love”. It will go from 00: 00 to 19: 00 in the Byzantine courtyard of the museum-reserve. The concert will be attended by the Sevastopol Symphony Orchestra conducted by the Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation, Honored Art Worker of Ukraine, laureate of the Prize of the Republic of Crimea Vladimir Kim. The audience will hear classical compositions by Antonio Vivaldi and musical works by Astor Piazzolla.
