June 11 is the Day of Feodosia Kolosyatnitsa. Unlucky day…
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Our ancestors considered June 11 to be an unlucky day. They said: “Feodosia Day is worth one of all Mondays.” Many even tried not to go out unless absolutely necessary. They also preferred to postpone work in the fields and gardens until the next day.
Also on June 11, people said: “If Fedosya Kolosyatnitsa came, it means the rye has bloomed.” Along with rye, the so-called “spikelet” mushrooms appeared — the first type of mushroom.
The Church today honors the memory of the Venerable Theodosius of Constantinople. It was on June 11, according to the new style, that the relics of the Virgin of Tire were transferred to Venice. It is known that 17-year-old Fedosya did not want to sacrifice to idols, as a result of which she was executed.
The weather signs are:
- Fog spreads across the water in the morning — good weather.
- After the rain, the wind blows or the sun shines brightly and bakes until the evening — a sign of prolonged bad weather.
- If in calm weather the sun is very hot — leading to a thunderstorm or hail, on a cloudy day it is hot at times or after rain — it will rain in the evening.
- Thistle (burdock) needles do not prick — for rain.
- If you see a lot of spiders, you need to wait for good weather. If it is raining, but spiders begin to weave webs, then the sky will soon clear. If spiders reduce the size of the net traps, it may be windy weather. The spider weaves a web with a wheel — towards the wind.
- Bees are actively flying towards their hives — expect rain.
- The wind blows all day and intensifies at night, does not change direction — leading to rainy weather with sudden clearings.
- The bird cherry “cries” means rain.
Name days on June 11 are celebrated by: Fedot, Maria, Faina, Andrey, Ivan, Bogdan, Alexander.
