June 19 — Illarion's Day. Weeds in the garden?
Krympress reports:
On June 19, the people were considered labor during the day — they began weeding the fields and the garden. They said: «Illarion came — excess grass out of the field.» Our ancestors were sure, if we did not declare the weeds “war” on this day, then in the future it would be taken to fight them constantly.
The church now honors the memory of St. Illarion of Dalmatian, who is also called new. Indeed, in the 4th century, another Illarion the Great lived, whose memory is revered on November 3. Illarion of the new one lived in the 9th century. In the Dalmatian monastery, he accepted the schema, becoming a student of St. Gregory of Decolite. After his death, the members of the brotherhood tried to elect Illarion to the post of abbot, but he did not want and did not accept the proposal, escaping from this to Byzantium. However, Patriarch Nicephorus managed to persuade Illarion, and for 8 years the latter ruled the monastery. In 813, Lev Armenian, a well -known iconoborean, was on the throne of the emperor. Illarion went against his will, accusing of heresy and lies. For this, he was subjected to a large number of tortures. So, Illarion was imprisoned in prison, swearing with thirst and hunger. Despite this, Illarion continued to believe in Christ and did not refuse his faith. As a reward, he was honored to see the angels who had offered the soul of St. Fedor Studit to heaven.
The signs for today are as follows:
- Has it sharply cold? The weather will change for the better.
- Bees mowers on flowering plants — the day will be clear.
- Forge chirping in the field — by good weather.
- If the bees quickly fly to their hives, then it is coming to rain soon.
- Is the quail screaming? It will rain.
- The lark is not heard in the field from the dawn — to the bad weather.
- The field bindweed opened the flowers on an inconspicuous day — the weather will improve.
