June 20 — St. Fedot's Day. All you can do is swim!
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The people believed that from June 20, you can open the swimming season. Until the Day of Fedot, our ancestors believed, this cannot be done, because watermen and mermaids can be dragged under water. From the 20th, Fedot with a sickle guards near the reservoirs and cuts off the hair of all mermaids who are trying to attack a Christian.
The church now honors the memory of a martyr named Theodotos of Ancyra, who lived on the territory of the city of Ancyra in the 3rd century. He was an ardent preacher of the faith of Christ. He was able to convert many sinners to Christianity. Theodotos had his own hotel, in which he often talked with his guests about faith and life. It became a refuge for many Christians who were persecuted by the emperor. In addition, Theodotus tried to visit prisoners in dungeons as often as possible and buried them after execution or death from illness. It was then that 7 virgins were martyred at the hands of the persecutors. One of these virgins appeared to Theodotus in a dream and ordered him to raise the bodies of the virgins from the bottom of the lake in order to bury them. Theodotus fulfilled the request, and the Lord helped him in this. The emperor found out about Theodotus, who ordered to seize the old man and subject him to numerous torments. After this, Theodotus was executed. However, it is known that until the last second he did not renounce his faith and continued to glorify Jesus Christ.

- Pigeons in clear weather seek shelter — to soon rain.
- Red, fiery flashes of lightning portend winds or a storm.
