June 24 is Bartholomew's Day. You can see mermaids, and an unknown force is playing pranks in the fields

CrimeaPRESS reports:

This day was also popularly called Barnabas, Barnabas the strawberry farmer, and the day of Barnabas. On June 24, our ancestors were sure, it was impossible to tear up the grass — an unknown force rolled through the fields, meadows, valleys and forests at noon and divided the territory among itself. They decide: who should confuse the reins and clamps in the entryway, who should fill the grass with poisonous heat, and who should cry as a child in a well and frighten the human race. That’s why they didn’t mow: it was believed that you would bring evil spirits into the house. Also, according to popular belief, all medicinal plants are now becoming poisonous.

And also — this is the time of mermaid days. You can see these creatures. They have fun, walk through fields and forests, swing on tree branches and celebrate weddings. By the way, the husbands of mermaids are guys or goblins who are tickled (by themselves to death).

The Church today honors the memory of the Apostle Bartholomew and the Apostle Barnabas. The first after the descent of the Holy Spirit by lot preached the Gospel in Syria and Asia Minor, visited India and ended his days in Armenia, where he was captured and crucified upside down. The Apostle Barnabas, a friend of the Apostle Paul, preached in Antioch, Rome and Cyprus. Around the year 62, according to legend, the pagans stoned the apostle and tried to burn him, but his body remained unharmed.

As for the weather signs for June 24, then:

  • Do pigeons hide on a sunny day? To bad weather.
  • Swifts are not visible in clear weather — it means there is a thunderstorm.
  • Bees do not fly to the field in the morning, but sit in the hives and buzz loudly — this means precipitation.
  • Sunrise is accompanied by stuffiness — bad weather.
  • Fog creeping across the water is a sign of a significant mushroom harvest.
  • If it’s stuffy in the morning and smells strongly of honeysuckle, it means bad weather.
  • Ducks are actively diving and splashing — this means rain.
  • From the very morning the sun is pale — it will pour in the evening.
  • A red rainbow means the rain will stop pouring, a blue rainbow means rain and wind.
