Commentary by Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea Yuriy Gotsanyuk on the occasion of the Day of Partisans and Underground Workers.
June 29 — Day of partisans and underground fighters. The immortal feat of popular resistance during the Great Patriotic War became a symbol of the steadfastness, courage and bravery of the generation of victors of fascism.
In the Crimea during the Great Patriotic War, the people’s avengers destroyed about 30 thousand fascists, 79 military trains, two armored trains, 2.5 thousand pieces of equipment. More than 3 thousand partisans and members of the underground movement were awarded high state awards. The streets of the settlements of the peninsula are named after the heroes.
Our sacred duty is to remember the feat of the defenders of the Motherland, those who gave the most precious thing for peace and freedom in their native land, who, at the cost of their lives, won the Great Victory for us— said in a comment by Yuri Gotsanyuk.
