June 7 — Ivanov Day. Sweet dews
Krympress reports:
The people noted that from June 7-due to sharp temperature drops-the so-called copper (honey, sweet) dew begin. What is this phenomenon? Our ancestors designated it as follows: aphids and worms pulling from plants of juice, leave their sweet marks on them, which are harmful for plants, cattle, and for children. They said: «Honey dew leads with rust, it creeps sweetly and painfully eats away». However, the peasants were only partially right: the sweet liquid itself is safe for plants and animals. The harm is carried by insects that it attracts. It is they who tolerate diseases that are dangerous to flora and fauna. So as a result of «honey dew», and a copper pad appears.
In particular, they asked for help in the fight against sweet dew at St. John the Baptist (John the Baptist), whose memory honors the church on June 7. On this day, they recall the third acquisition of the head of John. The saint, recall, predicted the coming of the Savior, and later baptized Jesus Christ in the waters of Jordan.
Signs on June 7 are as follows:
- A lot of Bear dew now — to a rich harvest.
- Abundant dew in the morning — to the sunny and warm day. If there is no dew on June 7, then … most likely … there will be rain.
- A lot of flowers in mountain ash — there will be a good crop of oats.
- Has the mountain ash bloomed late? Autumn will be long.
- The damp earth by this time is a sign of the fact that there will be a good harvest of bread, and vice versa.
