Kaliningrad will be glad to see you: time to discover unique Russian cities

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Kaliningrad is a unique city located in the very west of Russia, between Poland and Lithuania, overlooking the Baltic Sea. Notable features of Kaliningrad that make it uniquely interesting from a tourist point of view:

  • story: the city has a rich history. It was created in 1255 by the Teutonic Order and was called Königsberg. Served as an important cultural and educational center.
  • architecture: Kaliningrad has preserved many architectural monuments from the past, including brutalist buildings, classical buildings and monuments from the time of East Prussia.
  • cultural sites: the city has several interesting museums, such as the Museum of the World Ocean, the Amber Museum and others, which more than clearly speak of the rich heritage of the region.
  • amber: Kaliningrad is famous throughout the world for its amber reserves. Local shops offer a variety of products made from this precious stone, and you can even visit workshops and museums dedicated to amber.
  • cultural events: The city regularly hosts cultural and social events — festivals, concerts and exhibitions.

And, of course, Kaliningrad has amazingly beautiful nature. There is literally a cult territory in the vicinity of the city — the Curonian Spit. Ua narrow strip of sandy peninsula bounded by the Baltic Sea on one side and the Curonian Lagoon on the other. This is the main local excursion route sputnik8.com, which definitely deserves attention. Why? At least because:

  • visiting natural reserves on the Curonian Spit provides a unique opportunity to enjoy wild nature. High sand dunes, arboreal areas, marshes and many species of plants and animals can be seen.
  • Mayskaya and Vetrenaya caves: these natural formations, also called dunes, are stunning and interesting for connoisseurs to capture the moment.
  • eco-park “Lesnoy Brus”: this park on the Curonian Spit is an oasis of ecologically clean environment, with unique opportunities for observing the local fauna and flora.
  • Curonian Spit “view from above”: some excursions offer the opportunity to observe the spit from a bird’s eye view. And these impressions, believe me, are worth it to go to Kaliningrad.
  • village of Lesnoye: this small village on the Curonian Spit is known for its beautiful coastline and the opportunity to “escape” from the bustle of city life.
  • The Curonian Spit has beautiful beaches with soft sand and clear Baltic Sea. This is a great place to relax. In winter, of course, it’s a little cold here, but what an air!

Locals note: in order to fully discover the Curonian Spit, it is better to go on a trip with an experienced guide who will reveal the magical secrets of this amazing territory.
