Kalos Limen Museum-Reserve Wins Competition to Create Multimedia Guides with Augmented Reality Technology
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Accelerated implementation of digital technologies in the cultural sphere is becoming one of the goals of the national project «Culture». This creates broad opportunities for the development of the cultural sector as part of the digital economy, overcoming inequality in the degree of accessibility of cultural goods. The digital platform «Artifact» is used to implement the project, which allows museums to create multimedia guides with augmented reality technology. The «Artifact» platform is a digital resource for creating interactive guides with augmented reality technology, developed by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and is part of the regional project «Digital Culture».
The museum that has passed the competitive selection of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation is provided, at the expense of the budget of the Russian Federation, with the following: high-quality photography of exhibits, accompanying audio guides (including in a foreign language), professional editorial processing of texts describing museum exhibits and their translation into a foreign language, as well as the publication of a finished multimedia guide in the mobile application and the Artefact platform.
For work/functioning, the museum halls will be supplemented with QR codes that will reveal interesting facts about the exhibits to visitors. Thanks to this, the material is presented in a form convenient for visitors, which makes the cultural locations of the museum halls more accessible and open to all ages. Access to augmented reality is provided using a free domestic mobile application.
The high level of equipment of Crimean museums with modern multimedia and digital equipment, the ability to synchronize information with mobile devices through the QR code system allows for the creation of interactive exhibits, attracting a large number of children and young people to museums.
Previously, multimedia guides within the framework of the national project «Culture» have already been created in 8 cultural institutions of Crimea: in the museum-reserve «Sudak Fortress», Alushta literary and memorial museum of S.N. Tsensky, Livadia Palace Museum, Feodosia Picture Gallery named after Aivazovsky, Alupka Palace and Park Museum-Reserve, Simferopol Art Museum, House-Museum named after A.P. Chekhov in Yalta and Massandra Palace.
